Inspiring Students with the Life Lessons of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Introduction
On February 19, 2023, we hosted Abhivyakta, a district-level elocution competition designed to nurture the public speaking skills of young students. This event was not just about competing; it was about inspiring students with the powerful lessons from the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. By encouraging students to speak confidently and expressively, we aimed to help them develop a skill that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Purpose of the Event
The main goal of Abhivyakta was to promote the art of public speaking among students while also instilling the values and lessons from the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Public speaking is a crucial skill that builds confidence and helps individuals express their thoughts clearly. Through this competition, we wanted to encourage students to learn from the bravery, leadership, and wisdom of Shivaji Maharaj, and to share those lessons with others.
Activities and Highlights
Abhivyakta brought together over 100 enthusiastic students from various schools across the district. The competition was divided into two groups based on grade levels: 5th-7th standard and 8th-10th standard, ensuring that each participant could compete with peers of similar age and skill level.
The topics for the speeches were carefully chosen to reflect the values and achievements of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Students spoke passionately about his leadership, his dedication to justice, and the many ways in which his life continues to inspire us today. It was incredible to see these young speakers bring history to life with their words.
The competition was fierce, but also supportive, as students cheered each other on and learned from one another. The winners were awarded trophies, certificates, book sets, and cash prizes, but every participant walked away with the valuable experience of having stood up and spoken confidently in front of an audience.

Abhivyakta was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of young voices and the powerful lessons they shared. By focusing on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, we helped students connect with an important part of our history while developing their own skills as confident, articulate speakers.
